PHARMACOLOGIC ACTIONS
Upon analysis , the herb turned out to contain galegin , a substance that decreases blood sugar by decreasing insulin resistance. It is the herbal prototype of the biguanide class of pharmaceutical that includes Metformin , a very widely used oral antidiabetic agent .
Galega off. Can decrease glucose absorbtion in gastro- intestinal tract.
ACTIVE INGREDIENTS
Selected and ameliorated species of Galega officinalis leaves : 500 mg
(Active constituents of galega include flavonoids , saponins and galegine )
ADMINISTRATION AND DOSAGE
1 to 2 tablets after meal , 3 times daily .
INTERACTIONS
A possible intraction exists with hypoglycemic medications .
ADVERSE REACTIONS
Health risks or side effects following the proper administration of designated therapeutic dosages have not been recorded .
CONTRAINDICATIONS & PRECAUTIONS
It can not be recommended for diabetes mellitus because of severity of the disease . If the patient is on insulin therapy , the insulin must be continued . The dosage may be adjusted according to the glucose concentration in blood and urine .
PREGNANCY AND LACTATION
There is no documents about using of this medicine during pregnancy and lactation.
