Vomigone tablet

Antiemetic, Joints’ anti-inflammatory

Dosage form and packaging:

Each box of Vomigone contains 30 coated tablets.

Description

Indications:

Nausea, vomiting and vertigo (caused by chemotherapy, pregnancy, surgery,motion sickness, seasickness and dyspepsia)

Rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis.

PHARMACOLOGIC ACTIONS

Ginger is as effective as cinnarizine, dimenhydrinate and hyoscine in motion sickness symptoms such as vertigo, nausea, vomiting and gastrointestinal spasms. These effects is related to gingerols and shogoals, active constituents of ginger rhizomes. Studies showed that therapeutic effectiveness in ginger treated group was 100%, whereas it was 31% in dimenhydrinate group.

None of the people taking ginger had any adverse side effects, while 60% of cases in the dimenhydrinate group had adverse effects.

Some studies showed that effectiveness of ginger in prevention and treatment of nausea and vomiting is more than metoclopramide with lower side effects.

Ginger has anti- inflammatory effects ,so it is very useful in rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis symptoms such as pain and inflammation.

ACTIVE INGREDIENTS

Each coated tablet contains 470±30mg  ginger rhizome powder standardized as 5mg essential oil and 3mg total polyphenols.

ADMINISTRATION AND DOSAGE

For chemotherapic nausea and vomiting: 3 tablets half an hour before chemotherapy.

Nausea and vomiting in pregnancy: 1-2 tablets daily.

Motion sickness: 1 tablet half an hour before travel. If nausea is continued take 1 tablet every 4 hours.

Postoperative nausea and vomiting and dyspepsia: 4-8 tablets daily in divided doses.

INTERACTIONS

High doses of vomigone may interact with the blood- thining drugs such as warfarin.

ADVERSE REACTIONS

There is no reported side effect in recommended doses. In people who are sensitive to ginger, mild gastrointestinal effects may occur.

CONTRAINDICATIONS & PRECAUTIONS

It is not recommended in patients who suffering from gastric ulcer and cholelithiasis.

PREGNANCY AND LACTATION

It can be used up to 2 tablets in pregnancy.
