– symptomatic treatment of BPH(stage I and II)
– Urinary problems caused by BPH
BPH is the most common prostate problem in men which is directly linked with aging. This problem may be a normal process with increasing age in men, caused by changes in hormone balance and cell growth. Gradually with increasing age in men, 5-alpha reductase enzyme activity, the main factor for the conversion of testosterone to DHT, increases and this hormone is the prostate gland proliferation-stimulating cell leading to its growing. Increased activity of aromatase enzyme also converts increasingly testosterone into estrogen in prostate and thus stimulates the growth of this gland.
BPH is without occlusion and annoying symptoms in the first stage, but it causes disorders in urination, pain and irritation in the second stage . A combination of two plants of saw palmetto and stinging nettle was used to prepare prostadin tablet. It is very useful to protect the health and physiology of prostate gland, prevents the complications due to its growing up, fixes the corresponding urinary disorders and controls irritable bladder.
Studies have shown that saw palmetto extract prevents hypertrophy of prostate gland by decreasing the enzyme 5-alpha-reductase activity and thus reduces the production of dihydrotestosterone. It can reduce the need to urinate at night, improve urinary flow and relieve pain when passing urine . In fact, multiple studies show that saw palmetto and stinging nettle extracts create advantages similar to finasteride and are better tolerated . Also the effect of saw palmetto has been established as an inhibitor of the enzyme 5-alpha-reductase in male-pattern hair loss prevention and control . Stinging nettle extract in Prostadin tablet increases urine volume and urinary flow and thus reduces urinary retention and improves complications of BPH . This extract works by inhibiting the binding of Sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG) and helps prostatic receptors. It also inhibits the aromatase enzyme and thus controls the BPH.
Each tablet contains 160 mg standardized extract of saw palmetto (Serenoa repens) fruit with 90% lipophilic substances (including fatty acids and sterols) and 120 mg of standardized extract of stinging nettle(Urtica dioica). The tablet is standardized based on 144mg of lipophilic extract.
ADMINISTRATION AND DOSAGE
Twice daily (morning and evening) 1 tablet each time, along with one glass of water Taking these tablets has no time limit.
Be cautious when using concomitantly with warfarin. If you need iron supplementation, take 2 hours after prostadin tablet . Due to the effects of anti-androgenic, estrogenic and anti-estrogenic, in the case of hormone-dependent cancer, it should be used cautiously. Also, due to the inhibitory effects of saw palmetto extract on alpha – adrenergic, androgenic and estrogenic receptors, the concomitant use with hormones, hormone-like drugs and adrenergic drugs should be cautious
The drug is well tolerated but sometimes digestive problems and rarely allergic reaction (hives, itching) been observed.
