Pharmacological Action:

Liverdin Complex Tablet is a combination of several medicinal herbs with protective properties towards liver system function. Milk thistle exerts hepatoprotective, anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-tumor effects. Also it efficiently has the potential to inhibit liver peroxidation, stimulate protein biosynthesis and accelerate liver regeneration. Silymarin is an active pharmacological compound present in this herb. Milk thistle is widely applied for treatment of liver toxicity induced by metabolic toxins like alcohol and Amanita species mushroom poisoning, hepatitis liver damage, chronic degenerative liver diseases like cirrhosis, fatty liver and also moderate liver disorders. Anti hepatotoxicity properties of flavonolignan contents derived from Milk thistle fruits has been decisively approved. From the view point of action mechanism, silymarin inhibits binding of toxins to the receptors on hepatocytes. Also it can modify the permeability of the hepatocytes’ membrane towards hepatotoxic chemicals and block toxins transition. Milk thistle or Artichoke has antioxidant and hepatoprotective activity. Several studies have demonstrated the potential cholesterol biosynthesis-inhibiting properties of Artichoke and also the hypolipidemic action of it. German Commission E, has approved Dandelion for improving liver and gall bladder disorders. These plants have proved to be choleretic which stimulate production of bile by the liver. Turmeric has widely been applied for its hepatoprotective, antioxidant and choleretic (stimulating bile secretion) activities. Pepper and Ginger have been applied in the product just to increase absorption of the other components. Ginger is an effective antioxidant as well.

Administration and Dosage:

Once or twice daily, each time 1 tablet

Interactions:

Milk thistle reduces the blood levels of metronidazole and its active metabolite. So concomitant use of it with Liverdin Complex tablets should be prohibited. As the drug increases serum potassium levels, concomitant administration of it with potassium sparing diuretics, like Amiloride, Spironolactone and Triamterene, may induce hyperkalemia so special precautions must be taken. Liverdin Complex may interact with anticoagulants, anti platelets, low-molecular weight heparins, thrombolytic agents and fluorokinolons such as Ciprofloxacin, Ofloxacin, Levofloxacin, Moxifloxacin (time gap must be considered for fluoroquinolones).

Adverse Effects:

Excessive sweating, stomach cramps, nausea and vomiting, weakness, hyperkalemia and diarrhea might rarely been observed. Hypersensitivity to any of active ingredients in the product might also be reported.

Precautions and Contraindications:

Do not use the product if cases of hypersensitivity to any of active ingredients occur. In the presence of gallstones, biliary obstruction, gallbladder empyema, ileus, gastric ulcers, hyperacidity and for people with bleeding disorders use the drug with physician’s advice. Keep the medicine out of the reach of children.
