Each box contains Acdin Gel in 15g tube.

Indications:

Helpful in treating mild to moderate acne vulgaris

As a complementary treatment in severe acne vulgaris

Helping in healing inflammatory lesions resulted from acne rosacea.

PHARMACOLOGIC ACTIONS

Several number of research studies has been conducted so far on the essential oil of tea tree and all suggest the antimicrobial effect of this oil. Tea tree essential oil exerts influence on a wide range of microorganisms creating superficial infections such as bacteria, fungi and yeasts. Antimicrobial effect of this essential oil comes mainly from its influencing cellular membrane and walls of microorganisms and inducing autolysis. According to the clinical studies carried out, tea tree essential oil 5% has been proved highly effectual in healing acne vulgaris as well as in treating skin inflammations resulted from histamines. Containing metronidazole 1%, this product can successfully be used to treat inflammatory papules and pustules of acne rosacea.

ACTIVE INGREDIENTS

Acdin gel contains tea tree (Melaleuca alternifolia) essential oil 5% which has been standardized based on at least terpinen-4-ol 1.5% as well as metronidazole 1%.

ADMINISTRATION AND DOSAGE

Dosage has to be prescribed by your practitioner; however, common dosage and how-to-use of Acdin Gel is as follows:

Having washed the intended spot with a weak non-allergenic cleanser, apply Acdin Gel onto the spot and continue application for 9 weeks, twice a day.

Do not apply Acdin Gel around your eyes and try to avoid its coming into contact with them.

INTERACTIONS

 No drug interactions have been reported for local application.

ADVERSE REACTIONS

A common side effect of using products which contain the tea tree essential oil is allergic contact dermatitis which may develop in some individuals after application. Of other likely side effects of Acdin Gel application, mild rash, skin dryness, skin irritation, itchiness and watery eyes can be mentioned.

Extensive application of this product, due to its high content of tea tree essential oil, may cause a headache.

A clinical trial conducted to compare a 5% tea tree oil gel and a 5% benzoyl peroxide product found that the tea tree product brings about similar results to those of benzoyl peroxide product but with less side effects.

CONTRAINDICATIONS & PRECAUTIONS

Avoid applying Acdin Gel onto a skin with eczema.

If your skin develops an allergic reaction to the product, reduce or stop application.

Acdin Gel has no therapeutic use for children.

PREGNANCY AND LACTATION

There has not been adequate evidence indicative of the product’s harmlessness during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
